• autonomous academic authority with competence mainly in the field of scientific, research and other creative activities of the faculty

• the Dean is chairman of the Research Board, Dean’s decision to appoint or dismiss a member of the Research Board is subject to approval by the Academic Senate of faculty

• at least one third of all members of the Research Board must be persons who are not academic employees of Charles University (outside of academic community of the University)

• the Research Board meets when necessary, but at least two times a year; if one third of all members or more ask for a meeting, one must be call together within two weeks

• discusses the proposal of strategic plan for the faculty's educational and creative activities, developed in accordance with the strategic plan of the Charles University, and the proposal of annual plan for the implementation of this strategic plan of the faculty

• approves proposals for study programs to be implemented at the faculty and forwards them to the Research Board of the Charles University for approval through the Rector

• proposes to the Rector the intention to submit an application for accreditation, extension of accreditation or extension of the period of validity of accreditation of faculty study programs

• proposes to the Rector the intention to submit an application for accreditation of the habilitation procedure and the procedure for appointment as a professor, for procedures carried out at the faculty

• exercies authority in the habilitation procedure and in the procedure for appointment as a professor

• the Research Board carries out activities in accordance with the Act No. 111/1998 Sb., o vysokých školách a o změně a doplnění dalších zákonů, with the internal regulations of the Charles University and the internal regulations of the faculty

• the activities of the Research Board are regulated by Code of Procedure for the Research Board of the Faculty of Humanities of Charles University
