RUV

Artistic Outputs Registry (RUV)

RUV for beginners, or What is RUV and how does it work?

In very simple terms, RUV is RIV, i.e. the Register of Information on Results for Science and Research, but for artistic fields taught at Czech public universities, and in particular for artistic outputs (RUV = Registr uměleckých výstupů in czech, or - Register of Artistic Outputs).

The most important reason for the existence of RUV is the effort to map, record, and evaluate creative activities carried out at universities.

The RUV web application is used to enter and subsequently record artistic outputs. It also supports the certification process for these outputs and facilitates communication between participants in the entire process, including the recording of associated documents. Ultimately, it calculates points for individual outputs and exports them for submission to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.

Simplified process within the RUV:

1) The artwork/performance is created.

2) The author (student, academic staff member) reports the artwork/performance in the RUV, i.e., enters a record of it into the application.

3) The artwork/performance is evaluated within the application.

4) The artwork/performance is certified or rejected.

What outputs can be submitted into RUV database?

You can enter all non scientific outputs that were created as part of your teaching or study activities at the Faculty of Humanities. Typically, at our faculty, these are art exhibitions or theater performances. However, it can also be a monograph, translation, collection of poems, music recording, etc. The important thing is that such an output cannot already be recorded in the RIV (Register of Information on Results), which serves a similar purpose to the RUV, but with scientific rather than artistic outputs.

RUV covers seven segments of artistic activity:

  • Architecture (architectural design, completed works, exhibitions of architectural works, etc.)

  • Audiovisual arts (directing, screenwriting, executive production, cinematography, editing, set design, sound design, etc.)

  • Design (graphic design, product and industrial design, fashion, textiles, jewelry, glass, porcelain, ceramics, completed designs, exhibited designs, etc.)

  • Music (performance, composition, concert, solo performance, etc.)

  • Performing arts (drama, puppet theater, opera, screenplays, dramatizations, dance and movement theater, etc.)

  • Literature (novels, translations of works of art, memoirs, essays, poems, novellas, short stories, etc.)

  • Visual arts (art installations, exhibitions, art production, restoration work, etc.)

Unfortunately, the RUV database does not yet have its English version.

Therefore, if you are a foreign employee or a student of the Faculty of Humanities and you think that your output for the past year would be suitable for the RUV database, please contact Mgr. Renata Wilflingová at , who will go through the process of adding your output into the database with you.
