MECU is a European network of four universities funded by the Erasmus+ program (KA220-HED-000467270) for the years 2026–2028.

The goal of the project is to strengthen civic and intercultural competencies by promoting cultural heritage literacy. To this end, MECU is developing educational formats that link medieval sources to the development of civic competencies and promote media literacy and resilience to the manipulative use of the medieval past in public discourse.

Program: As part of the MECU project, a Train-the-Trainer workshop will be held, along with three summer schools for students from the participating universities (2027 Reykjavík, 2028 Prague, 2029 Siena), and the database of medieval translations will be expanded. The project will also include hybrid public lectures.
